Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at 6:41PM Dad asked to see how the hops were growing, so I went and took this photo before it started to rain. As you can see, this Cascade hop bine is about six feet tall. There are quite a few shorter ones already growing up the twine as well. The Mt. Hood hops aren't doing as well; however, one bine is about two inches from the top of its support cage.
This will likely be my last post before we leave tomorrow evening to start our journey to North Carolina. We'll be staying at my parent's house tomorrow night so we can get up Friday and get on the road to Richmond. I'm pushing to have dinner at the Capital Ale House as it is only 500ft. from the hotel (and has 77 different beers on tap!).
I'm not sure if I'll be able to post any updates here, but keep an eye on my flickr photostream as I'll try and upload some pictures from my iPhone throughout the week!

The countdown has begun... just thirty more days until we leave for a week of relaxing in the water with a Yuengling in one hand and a ping pong ball in the other (to play beer pong on the raft of course!). Cheryl and I are heading down to to the Outer Banks and staying in the beach house pictured above (more info here) with the Large, Taylor, and Zimmerly families. We'll be leaving Ohio on the 3rd of July and driving most of the way, staying overnight in Richmond. This will hopefully allow us to arrive before the rest of the vacation traffic so we can get to the house and be ready (and awake) to celebrate the 4th. Since I no longer have a working Macbook Pro, I'll be computerless for the entire trip... something that I'm actually looking forward to (although I do hope Apple surprises everyone and releases the next iPhone model before July 3rd)!
This weekend, we're going camping with my parent's again, this time at Salt Fork State Park in east-central Ohio... camping is so much nicer when you have a camper (with air conditioning!) to sleep in. The nearby town of Coshocton is hosting the 28th Annual Frontier Power Hot Air Ballon Festival this weekend, and I thought it would a good opportunity to take some interesting pictures. Keep an eye for them after I return!

Monday, June 1, 2009 at 8:17PM It has arrived! This should provide many hours of entertainment at the vacation house in the Outer Banks this July! Purchased from www.poolsidepong.com.
All I've got to say is... why didn't I think of this?!?!
