RSS Feed Fixed!
It appears that the
developers of RapidWeaver have fixed an issue,
referenced in this previous post, with links
and photos not displaying correctly in the
generated RSS feed when using a .mac personal
domain account. Now let’s just hope Apple
doesn’t break anything when they flip the switch
for MobileMe (rumored to happen on July 9).
As long as you are subscribed to the new RSS feed address (http://feeds.feedburner.com/nateut), you’re all set!
RSS Feed Problems
Earlier today, someone (thanks Jon!) pointed out the fact that my RSS feed wasn’t working. I guess I hadn’t thought about the fact that the XML file for the RSS feed would be in a different location once the above changes were made. I corrected the problem, but it will require anyone who subscribed to the old feed (is there anybody out there?) to resubscribe to the new feed address: http://feeds.feedburner.com/nateut. If you don’t know what RSS is, checkout Wikipedia.
There is still a problem with the story links and inline pictures not loading; this is a bug within the RapidWeaver software and should be fixed in the next version.
New Things...
Second, and more importantly, I have accepted a new position with a company this week, ending my three year stint with my current employer. Since finishing my MBA this past semester, I knew it was time to try and find something that would let me better utilize the skills and education that I have gained over the years. I also wanted to find a place that allowed me to grow within the company, and hopefully find myself in a project management position in the future. Starting August 27th, I'll be a Security Analyst at the Dana Corporation data center in Maumee. The office is about five minutes away from my current apartment, which is also a nice bonus.
Tomorrow is the Northwest Ohio Rib-Off at the Lucas County Fairgrounds. I think Kelly and Jared will be joining Cheryl and I and it should be a pretty good time. I'll definitely be saving room to stuff myself on ribs and deep fried goodness for dinner.
Site Changes
Also, Realmac Software has released the highly-anticipated update to its RapidWeaver software. This is the program that I use to design and maintain this website. I've included a portion of the announcement below:
Realmac Software today has released the much-anticipated new version of RapidWeaver, their powerful WYSIWYG software that does a great job of filling the gap between iWeb and Dreamweaver. This new v3.6 ushers in a significant list of new features, such as:
• Themes Styles - no more digging in HTML and CSS to customize your theme (unless you really want to)
• 6 completely new themes
• Snippets - manage chunks of frequently used code instead of copy/pasting or constantly re-typing
• New Flash Slideshow - completely rewritten and can now pull images from a Flickr feed
• Improved blog, including tags and inline comment support
• Easy creation of Lists
• Detailed Publishing
• And much, much more
News Addition to Site
This page is generated using RSS (really simple syndication) feeds and a service named NewsGator Online. I recently received a free subscription to this with the purchase of NetNewsWire, a popular RSS reader for Mac OSX. The nicest part about the whole thing is that it is updated regularly and automatically, with no intervention from me. So, check it out if you have some free time, and/or just want to stay up on the latest news.
RapidWeaver: A New Website Creation Package
RapidWeaver is a program that has been the benchmark that iWeb has been compared to since its release. It offers the ease of basic website creation with the ability to incorporate advanced features and interoperatibilty with other Web 2.0 services. Since the included themes are not as graphically-intense, the site should load much quicker than before as well. The software is free to try, but costs $39.95 to purchase so I will likely be testing the software before making any purchases. If you have any comments on the layout or how the site operates, get ahold of me and let me know. I will be importing at least some of the postings from the previous site in the next day or two.
