Comments: Mad River Brews is back in business and making what should be an awesome (and tasty) beer! It has been a long nine months since the last batch was made, but I’m proud to say the brew session went by without any glitches. The American Wheat is happily bubbling away. Apricot purree will be added when the beer is transferred to the secondary where it will stay for a week or two.More...

2008 Update

2008 has come upon us, and Mad River Brewing is still alive and strong. I'm planning on kegging the Northern Brown Ale very soon, and hope to get started on my next batch within the next couple weeks. I haven't decided what it will be yet, but I have a couple of ideas. While I was hoping to have the NBA ready for the National Championship Game tomorrow night, I guess I'll have to enjoy something else while the Buckeyes hopefully earn another championship title.

Comments: I haven't had a Brown Ale in awhile now (i.e. Newcastle), so hopefully this one won't disappoint. A pretty average brew day with little/no surprises. This one should be good to go in early 2008!More...

Comments: Using 100% Michigan-grown apples not from concentrate. Will add sorbate and lightly backsweeten before serving. UPDATE: I'm not 100% sure if I will backsweeten this one or not. It still has quite a bit of its Apple flavor, and I think I may just leave it alone and force carbonate it in March. I'll have to give this one some more thought...More...

Comments: A Cascade-infused Pale Ale in the stylings of the classic Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. Will use gelatin in the secondary to help produce a clear final product. 10/20 - Maybe its the lack of homebrew lately, but I think this is a very good pale ale and is a good substitute for one of my favorites, SNPA. A decent, but not overpowering hop flavor with an excellent aroma and color. It is a little cloudy, but that may be a case of chill haze that may go away after time.
